In the span of two years a total of ten paintings depicting Cape Verdean’ landscapes, peoples and sceneries. These can be separated in three stylistically different groups: paintings with no underpainting, partly leaving the canvas exposed; paintings with complimentary-colored underpainting that are characterized by their specially rich and saturated appearance; and finally a large entirely composed scenery that makes extraordinary use of photorealistic effects. The latter thereby strongly resembles the aesthetics of film-stills and at the same time explores a narrative characteristic of depiction later often applied in the ‘religious paintings‘.
